EXTRA TERRESTRIAL LANDSCAPE
I like to think of this pendant as a still shot of another world. A slice of another time and place. Featuring a stunning piece of Gibeon Meteorite that looks like the surface of another planet-- I can't imagine a better material to create such a curious extra terrestrial landscape! To think how far it may have traveled to reach Earth, is mind blowing! To think that it was once screeching through the sky-- a shooting star unseen by man, for he had yet to arrive...is to stretch my mind nearly to its limits. Notice the open pathway before you, inviting you to enter between the brass boundaries into a land yet to be explored, or left dead long ago. From this extra terrestrial landscape one can see the cool blue moon rising, represented by the small Blue Topaz (my birthstone), as if it's chasing a fiery red Garnet planet and a golden yellow Citrine sun setting on the horizon.
DIMENSIONS
The pendant is approximately 1.5 inches x 1.5 inches. Chain included; 16" Sterling PopCorn Chain is shown but Custom chain style and length options are available upon request!
METEORITE
A meteorite is a solid piece of debris from an object, such as a comet, asteroid, or meteoroid, that originates in outer space and survives its passage through the Earth's atmosphere and impact with the Earth's surface. When the object enters the atmosphere, various factors like friction, pressure, and chemical interactions with the atmospheric gases cause it to heat up and radiate that energy. It then becomes a meteor and forms a fireball, also known as a shooting/falling star; astronomers call the brightest examples "bolides." Meteorites that survive atmospheric entry and impact vary greatly in size. For geologists, a bolide is a meteorite large enough to create a crater.

GIBEON METEORITE
A Gibeon Meterorite is a meteorite that fell in prehistoric times in Namibia. It was named after the nearest town: Gibeon, Namibia. Gibeon meteorites were discovered by the Nama people who used them to make tools and weapons. In 1836 the English captain J. E. Alexander collected samples of the meteorite in the vicinity of the Great Fish River and sent them to London. There John Herschel analyzed them and confirmed for the first time the extraterrestrial nature of the material.
